five gees.

$5000

you have five thousand dollars to spend. [obviously this is bullshit, but play along] would you invest in a handcrafted, one of ten, 1:3 scale resin accident victim from coarse? possibly. the piece is a nice step forward for mark and sven. everyone loves more blood and bandages right? the prone "pain in dreams" is just one of an emergency room full of maladies from the glimpse of truth show that's currently showing at rotofugi. the guys must have been working nonstop because there is a shit ton of new stuff.

should've never challenged nolte to a screwdriver fight.

this life support diet makes these abs look tiiiiight.

or there's option #2. [yes, the piece above really costs 5000 american dollars]
ricardo de montreuil took $5000 and created an amazing little dystopian short film. he shot for exactly one weekend to create the raven, and now he's in talks with universal to make it a feature.

so what's it gonna be? a kick-ass piece for your shelf? or commission mr. de montreuil to create a sweet five minute movie with you as the ass-kicking star? [pretty sure he'd never do this]

this isn't really a legit question because there are billions of other things you could spend the money on, most of which are less ridiculous than these. but you see my point. hell, if you're gonna get a toy with your money, at least get something huge like a 4ft dissected or an entire platoon of 1:1 squares.

addendum: let's leave the question as a discussion of two wildly disparate endeavors. it was hasty to write off a piece like the one above without thinking about how much intimate work goes into something that complex. when something has that level of finish, it's easy to forget the hands that brought it to be.

the teens in spring fall mainly for the fling.

here's something for ya. grab a duffle bag, fill it with tanktops and head to chicago to meet hello, brute in two weeks. jon has got a solo show starting up at rotofugi on the 9th of april. it's called teen dream, and you should be there because it will be awesome. he's promised paintings and drawings in addition to his wicked resin residents.

bonus points for anyone that draws an anchor on their chest with sharpie.

and because you can't have a proper solo show without some crazy new shit... jon is collaborating with felt mistress on some killer new plush of his characters. i must say, these look pretty incredible. they're like hip muppets... ummm, hippets?

just hanging out behind the 7-11, shooting up yarn.

aaaannd apparently yarn possession carries a 5 year sentence.

the latest released toy: pepper. he's 9"
and maybe it's just a weird shadow...
but pepper looks like he's packing some heat in those day glos
he's gonna need a meat cleaver to shave hairs that thick.

another 9 incher in the works...
prep-school love has some huge potential.

do your part.

the moot! the moot! the moot is on fiyah! we don't need no wate... actually the water looks pretty fucking badass. aquamarine with touches of deep blue, all over a gid core. looks like this muscamoot has been playing in some toxic mud; get him near the light and watch him glow.

wouldn't he look fetching in a little butler outfit?

we have to assume he's a brilliant swimmer,
cause he's not running away from shit with those choad legs.

do your part! help clean up our waterways. get these beautiful little poisonous bastards out of the bay and onto your shelves. he's gonna be a great companion to his seaweed brother on my desk. i love the way the paint highlights his mottled skin on the back of his head, gorgeous.

the fishing begins tomorrow at noon in store at rotofugi and at 2pm online. (i assume that's chicago time) get to it.

lost in the woods of michigan.

64colors of sharp crisp crayons on a friday afternoon. could anything else be better? 64colors is actually a talented duo from here in the great white north, although i'm guessing their name is an allusion to the big box of 64. laura and eric had a big year with the release of marshall mashumaro; fathered by the terrific triumvirate of squibbles ink, rotofugi and 64colors.

the wilderness wünderkids are quite talented character designers and as evidenced below, pretty handy with a paintbrush. their most recent conquest was 20" of mega munny.

porcelain face and a maple-hard ass.

flaming monkey horns. i like the sound of that.

not content to leave mischievous marshall alone, 64colors has started customizing and selling the little nugget. some are still available in their shop.

the river runts
half vampire gourd, half booger.

marshall monsters
this is why lucha libres wear masks.

stumps.
you can count their rings to see how many children they've mauled.

stay tuned as i'm sure they'll continue to blow minds this year with even more hidden creatures and woodgrained midgets.

huffing vinyl.

field trip!
so the reason you got no posts for a week was because i was in chicago earning dollars. with the 5% of my time that i wasn't working,
i went to rotofugi. and it was awesome. met kirby and whitney. experienced a dunny trading party. saw a deer head being traded for some baseman vinyl. yes, a real deer head. and peeped their massive in-store selection. so here's my book report.
the neverending line of dunny addicts.

piles of colorful goodness.

polar bears fuckin rock y'all.

two large martin war machines and a peacemaker.
they kinda cancel each other out.

chickens away!
just a badass bronze army man storming the bastille.

blind box attack mode.

eye patches. popular with crappy cats and bitchin lincolns.

jealous.

coarse v. akira motorcycle.

two faithful guardians.

my six-faced nut-kickin souvenir.

the lesson for the day is go to chicago. not only for hotdogs and pizza, but for toys! and rotofugi is the place to buy those toys. visit them and they will take care of you.

karma chameleons.

i went to toy karma.
it was like willy wonka's factory. colorful. bizarre. dangerous?
a lot of fantastically detailed work by some toy-lovin fools.

respect the bear steed.

bring on the panthor variants...

looks like dinner for the zag...

but you don't mess with the clawed creamsicle.

invisible prey is scared shitless.

candy-coated stoners.

waiting for his kiss.

blasted in the ass by the mongler sherman.

like pompeii...

...with godzilla.

you can still buy a decent number of these guys. they're all very anxious to take over your shelves. support the artists and shops that make sweet things like this melt in your mouth.

toy karma iii is two years away... what are you going to create?

all pics came off my shitty iphone camera.
