one bear to rule them all.

i'm calling it a pandolar bear.
now with twice the extinction.

moon boots. pandolar bear.
skull face made of nipples, belly button and belt buckle?
check. check. and check.

this sexy little sketch by ajee is being brought to life in the wonder of three dimensions. in vinyl of course, but also fancied up in porcelain. like a toilet!
i'm not normally one to gravitate towards nudie sculpts, but this feels different. maybe it's the lack of skin tone, or the fact that i'm completely blinded by the wicked awesome bear sculpt. but, i like. fresh and stark like new snow, patiently waiting for the inevitable splatter of blood. eyes open y'all, don't let this duo slip through your fingers. oh, they're/she's called kosplay.

my cold steel heart.

the soft and cuddly exterior tore like wet paper. the kid didn't mean to hug so hard. but he did. and now the fantasy was broken. the cold hard reality of his best friend shined in his face. the red lifeless eye whirred and clicked trying to gain focus without a liquid lens. angry and lonely, the kid continued tearing until his fingers scraped rusty iron.

johnpaulkaiser took a mecha sad bear from luke chueh and made it even sadder. the former kfgu has been lovingly padded, but stripped bare a little further as well. excellent contrast work as always. the dimension of the skin really adds a lot to the character. bravo.

because he's made of metal.

lock up your grandparents before the bear steals all their meds.

unrelated but interesting. this is the 100th post on the blog.
so that's cool.

patrolling the streets

you can see the fur texture the best here

going extinct in style.

one beautiful beast. and not because of his neck snapping power. this is a bear on every list, including the endangered one.
he's a custom Mighty Mugg. super sculpey and acrylics are all you need. ...and maybe a hunger for carpal tunnel. painting individual hairs is a bitch. here's a rundown of my process...
pre-bake
(you can see where I got lazy blending clay to body)

post-bake
(gotta love the "gotta poop" stance)

primed

some fur undercoat
(this is not some one-coat wonder)

anyone else getting started and wants any tips or advice? i'd be happy to share the limited knowledge that i have
